Royal Ark Mariners Assembly 2025

On Tuesday 1st April the Province of Northumberland held its Annual Assembly of Royal Ark Mariners under the Banner of Triangle Lodge of Installed Commanders No. 1483 as usual. This was held at Ashington Masonic Hall and again proved to be very successful with over 60 members in attendance. The meeting went smoothly and without a hitch. This was testimony to all the hard work put in, especially by the Secretariat, to ensure that all went well on the evening.

We were pleased to welcome the Provincial Grand Master of Durham, R. W. Bro. David Hanson who graciously accepted the invitation to attend the meeting. R. W. Bro. David is well known to us in Northumberland, and we were delighted to see him here.

During course of the meeting the Provincial Grand Master, R. W. Bro. Raymond Walton, was pleased to appoint two brethren to RAMProvGR and these were;

Bro. Colin Hume of Ashington Lodge RAM No. 890 and Farne Lodge RAM No. 1540 along with Bro. Duncan McIsaac of Newgate Lodge RAM No. 1141. Many congratulations go these brethren, the appointments were very well deserved, and we hope that they have many happy and healthy years to enjoy their new ranks.

W. Bro. Ray also took the opportunity to present a Grand Patron Honorific on behalf of the Mark Benevolent Fund to W. Bro. Ron McEwan of Northumberland and Berwick Upon Tweed Lodge RAM TI. The Provincial Grand Master thanked him for his donations, saying how important contributions such as these were to enable the tremendous charitable work to be done by the Fund.

With the Assembly over, everyone then retired to the Festive Board where a very enjoyable time, in the company of good friends, was had by all. Mention must be made of the raffle which raised the magnificent sum of £420.00 towards the Northumberland 2031 MBF Festival. As ever, the generosity of our members is outstanding, and this will make a significant difference.

Many thanks to the Secretariat and DC’s team for all their hard work to ensure that the meeting went well and enable us all to have such an enjoyable evening.
And a special thanks must also go to the staff at Ashington Masonic Hall for the first-class meal and excellent service which helped make it such a successful event. Well done to all concerned.

This is a wonderful Order which is open to all Mark Masons so, if you are not already a member, why not consider joining and enjoying more of the friendship that is part of the ‘Magic of the Mark’.

The Great North Air Ambulance receives Grant from MBF

The Travelling Sceptre has found its way to the very far north of the Province to Berwick-upon-Tweed and now resides in the care of St Cuthbert’s Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners No 192.   It’s there to be won, but the Lodge only meets twice a year on the 1st Wednesday in May and October, and that’s the challenge.

The Travelling Gavel has left Whitley Bay and moved from the furthest east of the Province to the furthest west and is now in the possession of Hexham Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 1141.   Perhaps it can now make its way to the far north to compete the Northumberland triangle.
