The new Mark Masonic year starts at Risingham No.1033

Worshipful Master proclaimed for the ensuing year

The first official event of our new Mark masonic year took place on Tuesday 10th October 2023 when Risingham Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 1033, located in the village of Bellingham, received a Provincial Visit. On this occasion the Team was led by the Provincial Grand Master, R. W. Bro. Raymond Walton. He was accompanied by the Deputy Provincial Master, V. W. Bro Richard Northey, along with an excellent turn out from the new Provincial Team. They received a very warm welcome from the Master, W. Bro. Peter Marshall ProvGJW, and the other members of the Lodge who were present.

After the Team had been welcomed into the Lodge the Master, W. Bro. Peter Marshall ProvGJW, was proclaimed as Worshipful Master for the ensuing year. He then proceeded to appoint and invest his Officers.

On the First Rising the Provincial Grand Master took the opportunity of presenting to the Lodge, a Grand Patron Diamond Collarette and Certificate in recognition of the of the outstanding contributions made to the Mark Benevolent Fund. He went on to thank the Lodge, on behalf of the Fund, for their efforts over the years and expressed his own gratitude for their donations.
R. W. Bro. Ray went on to congratulate W. Bro. Peter for remaining in the chair as Master for another year and expressed his wish that he and the officers who had been appointed all had a very happy and enjoyable year in office.

R. W. Bro Ray Walton had also hoped to be able to present a rarely awarded Certificate to W. Bro. John Spearman PProvGSW marking 60 years as a Mark Master Mason but unfortunately W. Bro John was unable to attend due to ill health. It was then later decided that a delegation led by the Provincial Grand Master would visit W Bro John to present him with his Certificate marking this outstanding achievement.
Once the formalities of the meeting were finished, there then followed a first-class meal in very enjoyable and convivial company and a wonderful atmosphere was generated throughout the evening.
In reply to his toast at the Festive Board, the Provincial Grand Master made mention of the upcoming Northumberland MBF Festival to be held in 2031 and how preparations were underway for an official launch event in November 2024.
He also informed everyone that the Northumberland Mark Festival Jewel was now on sale and encouraged everyone to consider buying one, thereby becoming a Festival Steward and being able to wear it at all Mark and Mariner Lodges in the Province.

The visit proved to be yet another wonderful evening of Mark Magic.

Magic of the Mark

Northumberland and Berwick upon Tweed Lodge of  Royal Ark Mariners TI is the now current holder of the Travelling Sceptre from 3rd Ocober 2023

The Travelling Gavel has left Whitley Bay and moved from the furthest east of the Province to the furthest west and is now in the possession of Hexham Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 1141.   Perhaps it can now make its way to the far north to compete the Northumberland triangle.
