On Thursday 26th January, Ponteland Lodge MMM No. 1550 received the first Mark Provincial Visit of 2024. On this occasion the Provincial Team was led by the Provincial Grand Master, R. W. Bro. Raymond Walton, Ponteland being his own Mark Lodge. There was an excellent turn out with sixteen Provincial Officers attending along with a good number of visitors. The PGM, the Team and the visitors received a warm reception from the Master, W. Bro. Ian H. Matthews, and the other members of the Lodge.
After everyone had been welcomed into the Lodge, they were then treated to an excellent talk given by the Worshipful Master on the history of the Ancients and Moderns and how the Mark Degree was formed. Many thanks go to W. Bro. Ian for preparing such an interesting and informative talk and then giving such a well delivered presentation.
Once the formalities of the meeting were finished, to conclude the evening, 35 diners then retired to a local Indian restaurant where wonderful food was enjoyed by all.

The Great North Air Ambulance receives Grant from MBF
The Travelling Sceptre has found its way to the very far north of the Province to Berwick-upon-Tweed and now resides in the care of St Cuthbert’s Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners No 192. It’s there to be won, but the Lodge only meets twice a year on the 1st Wednesday in May and October, and that’s the challenge.
The Travelling Gavel has left Whitley Bay and moved from the furthest east of the Province to the furthest west and is now in the possession of Hexham Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 1141. Perhaps it can now make its way to the far north to compete the Northumberland triangle.
