Installation at George Stephenson Lodge 1527

An Inspiration to younger Mark Masons

An amazing Installation Meeting was held at The George Stephenson Lodge MMM No. 1527 on Thursday 4th May where Bro. Stephen Matchett was installed into the chair of Adoniram for the first time.

The Installing Master was W. Bro. George Edward Henderson P.Prov.G.S.O., who at the age of 92 years did an outstanding job, impressively undertaking the work of installing Bro. Stephen into the Chair with great sincerity and dignity. All without any prompts during the ceremony.

Bro. George was advanced into De Umfraville Lodge MMM No 1270 in May 1989. He was Master in 1998, 2011 and 2012 and was appointed to P.Prov.G.S.O. in 2014. After De Umfraville Lodge closed in 2015, W. Bro. George then joined The George Stephenson Lodge MMM No. 1527 in 2016 and became Master in 2022.

In attendance was the P.G.M., R. W. Bro Raymond Walton, who said that W. Bro. George was inspirational to younger Mark Masons as his command of the ritual was as good as he had heard delivered by anyone and was certainly something for all ritualists to aspire to.

R.W. Bro. Ray then went on to surprise W. Bro. George by giving him a field promotion to Past Provincial Grand Senior Warden and presenting him with the badge and jewel of his new rank.

Bro. George was both thrilled and overcome with emotion saying it was the best honour he had ever received, and also said how much he loved the Degree of Mark Master Mason

The evening concluded with a very enjoyable Festive Board consisting of good food among good friends.

We wish W. Bro. George along with the newly installed Master, W. Bro. Stephen, and his new team of Officers a very happy and enjoyable year.

This was yet another ‘Magical Mark’ evening enjoyed by all present.

The Great North Air Ambulance receives Grant from MBF

The Travelling Sceptre, without the use of a Satnav,  has found its way back to Whitley Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners No 788.   It’s there to be rescued.

The Travelling Gavel has left Whitley Bay and moved from the furthest east of the Province to the furthest west and is now in the possession of Hexham Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 1141.   Perhaps it can now make its way to the far north to compete the Northumberland triangle.
