Our Provincial Grand Master R. W. Bro. Raymond Walton made Monday 14th October a very special night for Haven Lodge MMM No. 750 when he attended the meeting to present W. Bro. John Jeffrey with his certificate, a commemorative tie and to offer congratulations on completing 50 years as a Mark Master Mason in Northumberland.
A retired police sergeant, W. Bro. John served the communities of North Shields and Tynemouth. When he was ‘sworn in’ in 1952, he pledged his allegiance to His Majesty King George VI, only to learn 20 minutes later, that the King had passed away and that Queen Elizabeth II was our new monarch. W. Bro. John entertained everyone present with a few of his memories of his time in the police force.
Bro John was advanced into Haven Lodge on 14th October 1974 and installed as Master in 1985. He was honoured with the rank of Provincial Grand Sword Bearer in 1989 and then in Grand Lodge he was appointed Past Grand Sword Bearer in 1994.
At the age of 93 W. Bro. John remains active in all of the Orders of which he is a member and is a dedicated supporter of Haven Lodge and currently holds the office of Junior Warden a position that he has held for five years!
We thank and congratulate W. Bro. John for his many years of loyal and dedicated service to Haven Lodge and the Mark Degree and hope that he has many more years enjoying the companionship and friendship of the Order.

MBF Shines Bright at the Lighthouse Community Hub with a Generous Award of £30,000!
St Cuthbert’s Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners has passed the Travelling Sceptre to Triangle Lodge of Installed Commanders which meets on the 2nd Friday in February, the 1st Tuesday in April (Annual Royal Ark Mariner Assembly – in Ashington Masonic Hall 2026) and holds its Installation Meeting on 2nd Friday on September. All Royal Ark Mariners are welcome to attend the Lodge meetings.
Hexham Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 1141 relinquished the unclaimed Travelling Gavel at our Annual Provincial Meeting on 27th September and it was presented to the Worshipful Master of Nepos Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 1155, which meets at Newcastle East Masonic Building, Corbridge Road, Newcastle upon Tyne NE6 1HY on the third Tuesdays in March (Installation), May, September and November. It’s there to be claimed.
