Another important event in the Calendar occurred when Hartford Lodge of RAM No. 546 received a Provincial Visit on Wednesday 16th April 2025. On this occasion the Provincial Team was led by the Provincial Grand Master R. W. Bro. Raymond Walton and there was another good turn out from the Team for the meeting. They received a warm reception from the Commander and the members of the Lodge who were present.
After the Team had been welcomed into the Lodge, the Commander, W. Bro. John Bryan, then gave a talk entitled ‘Ice Cold’. This traced the development of refrigeration, as we know it, from early ice storage methods to the modern sophisticated systems that we have today. The talk proved to be very interesting and was well received by all present. Many thanks go to W. Bro. John for giving such a thoroughly researched and well delivered presentation.
Once the formalities of the meeting were finished, there then followed a first-class meal provided by the caterer, Jim Rose. This was enjoyed in the usual friendly manner with a wonderful atmosphere generated throughout the evening.
In reply to his toast at the Festive Board, the Provincial Grand Master made mention of the upcoming Northumberland MBF Festival to be held in 2031 and that the next NMBF Social Event is to be the Annual Barbecue which will be held on Saturday 26th July at Shiremoor Masonic Hall, all proceeds being donated to ‘Clowns In The Sky’. This local charity is dedicated to the research and treatment of childhood brain tumours and to the welfare of affected children and their families.
Grateful thanks go to W. Bro. Michael Gair of Ashington Lodge of RAM No. 890 for his assistance not only in standing in as Scribe for the meeting but also for his tremendous help in acting as a Steward during the meal.
Despite being low in numbers this proved to be a thoroughly enjoyable evening and yet another example of the Magic of the Mark!
