PGL crosses the Tyne in strength to attend the Durham APM

Wednesday 25th June, and what better to do than travel over the River Tyne to visit our close neighbours in the Mark Province of Durham for their Annual Provincial Meeting! This time a sizeable contingent consisting of our ProvGM, R. W. Bro. Ray Walton, DeputyProvGM, V. W. Bro. Richard Northey, PAsstProvGM W. Bro. Paul Hilditch, ProvGSec W. Bro. John Park, ProvGDC W. Bro. Duncan McIsaac and W. Bro. George Tuck made the short trip to The Lancastrian Suite, The Fed, Dunston, in Gateshead for the meeting.

Another very friendly welcome was given by their ProvGM, R. W. Bro. David Hanson, DeputyPGM, W. Bro. Trevor Lynn, AsstPGM, W. Bro. Michael Wilkinson and the rest of the members of the Province to the many Distinguished Guests present.

After the meeting had been opened it was honoured by the presence of the Assistant Grand Master, R. W. Bro. Professor Denovan Keith Wilson, who was admitted and welcomed into the Lodge by the ProvGM.

There then followed a well-managed and enjoyable Meeting during which the usual Provincial business took place including the Officers of the Year being appointed by the ProvGM. We congratulate all who were appointed and hope they have a happy and enjoyable year in office.

During the ProvGM’s address R. W. Bro David expressed his grateful and heartfelt thanks to the retiring Provincial Grand Secretary W. Bro. Allan Gurney. Who despite his many adversities during recent years faced them with great courage and continued to give dedicated and unwavering service to the Province. He truly ‘marked well’!

After the meeting had concluded there followed an excellent Festive Board featuring the traditional and enjoyable turkey dinner with all the trimmings. As always, this was held in good company and with good friends.

Another wonderful day of the ‘Magic of the Mark’, this time with our friends in Durham!

The Great North Air Ambulance receives Grant from MBF

The Travelling Sceptre has found its way to the very far north of the Province to Berwick-upon-Tweed and now resides in the care of St Cuthbert’s Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners No 192.   It’s there to be won, but the Lodge only meets twice a year on the 1st Wednesday in May and October, and that’s the challenge.

The Travelling Gavel has left Whitley Bay and moved from the furthest east of the Province to the furthest west and is now in the possession of Hexham Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 1141.   Perhaps it can now make its way to the far north to compete the Northumberland triangle.
