MBF Charities Manager visits the Province

On Tuesday 22nd August 2023 the Province was delighted to welcome Darren Coleman-Heald our Charities Manager from Mark Masons Hall. He was here in Northumberland representing the Trustees of the Mark Benevolent Fund to present cheques, so generously given by the Fund to two local charities and to see the equipment which the grants have provided for the organisations.

A strong contingent, consisting of the PGM, R W Bro Ray Walton, the DPGM V W Bro Richard Northey along with W Bro Jeff Ormston ProvGChStwd, W Bro Norman Reeve ProvGTreas, W Bro John Park Acting ProvGSec, Bro John Murray ProvDGSec, W Bro Brian Hagelburg Acting ProvAGSec along with W Bro Dennis Beecroft ProvGAlm, welcomed Darren and accompanied him for the presentations.

The first cheque of £55,751 was presented to the Tynemouth Volunteer Life Brigade at the Watch House in Tynemouth and this was used to purchase a brand-new rescue vehicle to assist in the very important and valuable work done by the Brigade.

The photos show what a fantastic piece of equipment this is. All of the members were extremely grateful for the grant and said how valuable this was going to be in helping to save lives in the area.

The second cheque was for £35,799 and was presented to the North East Barbarians at Blyth Sports Centre. This was used to provide eight junior wheelchairs for under 16’s with disabilities to enable them to play rugby.

They, again, were very gratefully received and have already been put into action. The photos show what tremendous pieces of equipment they are. The wheelchairs are definitely being well used, enabling these young people to exercise and enjoy the companionship of others in the same situation.

MBF 2031 Festival Ties and Tokens

The Travelling Sceptre, without the use of a Satnav,  has found its way back to Whitley Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners No 788.   It’s there to be rescued.

The Travelling Gavel has left Whitley Bay and moved from the furthest east of the Province to the furthest west and is now in the possession of Hexham Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 1141.   Perhaps it can now make its way to the far north to compete the Northumberland triangle.
