On Tuesday 11th April 2023, Backworth Lodge of MMM No 1180 were delighted to receive a Provincial Visit.
It was another wonderful turnout by the Team and, on this occasion, was led by the APGM W. Bro. Paul Hilditch PAGStdB.
After the Team had been welcomed into the Lodge, the Master, W. Bro. Phil Moat P.Prov.G.J.W., then delivered an excellent talk about the provision, training, and the use of Guide Dogs for those with sight impairment.
This proved to be of great interest to everyone and was fully illustrated by anecdotes revolving around the dogs themselves, which were both entertaining and informative. It should be noted that the Master presented his talk with virtually no notice, and without notes, as a problem arose with what had originally been planned for the evening. Many thanks go to W. Bro. Phil for standing in and giving such a knowledgeable and well delivered presentation.
When the talk had concluded there then followed a Q & A session which lasted for some time due to the interest of the brethren in what the Master had talked about in his presentation.
After the Lodge had been closed there then followed an excellent festive board where good food was enjoyed in good company.
Another evening of the ‘Magic of the Mark’.
BREAKING NEWS
The Great North Air Ambulance receives Grant from MBF
The Travelling Sceptre has found its way to the very far north of the Province to Berwick-upon-Tweed and now resides in the care of St Cuthbert’s Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners No 192. It’s there to be won, but the Lodge only meets twice a year on the 1st Wednesday in May and October, and that’s the challenge.
The Travelling Gavel has left Whitley Bay and moved from the furthest east of the Province to the furthest west and is now in the possession of Hexham Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 1141. Perhaps it can now make its way to the far north to compete the Northumberland triangle.
