A Memorable Night at Amble Lodge of MMM No 780

The brethren of Amble Lodge of MMM No 780 had a thoroughly enjoyable and memorable night on Wednesday 27th of November. The main business of the evening commenced with W. Bro. George Green, P.A.G.St.B giving a fascinating and informative talk on Masons’ marks which was received with a general acclamation from all present.

On the invitation of the Worshipful Master, Bro. Gareth Davies, Provincial Grand Chaplain and Provincial Grand Registrar, representing the Provincial Grand Master, made reference to notable events that occurred nationally and internationally in 1984, and on conclusion of which he requested the Director of Ceremonies to bring Bro. John Connell to the floor of the lodge. After reading the letter of congratulations from the Provincial Grand Master Bro. Davies presented Bro. Connell with his 40 year certificate, along with a 40 year Mark tie and lapel badge. Bro. Connell was warmly congratulated by all present on achieving a remarkable milestone in Mark masonry. Another Mark milestone was achieved when Bro. Paul McKay was elected as Worshipful Master for the forthcoming year, and again, the lodge resounded with congratulations to Bro. McKay.

The evening ended with a convivial Festive Board of an Amble “fish supper” made all the more memorable as the local “chippy” had run out of mushy peas!

The Great North Air Ambulance receives Grant from MBF

The Travelling Sceptre has found its way to the very far north of the Province to Berwick-upon-Tweed and now resides in the care of St Cuthbert’s Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners No 192.   It’s there to be won, but the Lodge only meets twice a year on the 1st Wednesday in May and October, and that’s the challenge.

The Travelling Gavel has left Whitley Bay and moved from the furthest east of the Province to the furthest west and is now in the possession of Hexham Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 1141.   Perhaps it can now make its way to the far north to compete the Northumberland triangle.
