40 Year certificate presentation at Ashington Lodge No. 890

R.W. Bro. Raymond Walton, the Prov. Grand Master, recently attended Ashington Mark Lodge No. 890 to present a certificate commemorating 40 years of membership of the Mark Degree to W. Bro. Ian Lamont P.Prov.G.J.W.

Having spent his professional life as a civil engineer, it appears that working for British Rail was the most rewarding time for W. Bro. Ian during his career. He also worked for Balfour Beatty Rail between 1998 and 2003 during which time he worked on attaining a ‘master’s degree in theology research’ at Durham University graduating in 2004. He then resigned from his job in 2009 and moved to South Australia to work for Parsons Brinkerhoff as a Rail Team Leader. After gaining three years of valuable experience, he moved back to the UK and formed his own Civil Consultancy firm before retiring in 2013.

Bro. Ian was initiated into Alnwick Lodge No. 1167 on 1st September 1982 and first occupied the Master’s chair in 1991 then again in 2001 and 2004. His first appointment in Provincial Grand Lodge was to P.Prov.J.G.D. in 2000 followed by a promotion to P.Prov.G.Swd.B. in 2006.

He was advanced into Hotspur with Coquetdale Mark Lodge No. 135 on 12th December 1983, first becoming Master in 1994 and again in 1995, followed by two more years in 2016 and 2017. He also became a member of Royal Colonial Institute Mark Lodge No 728 on 1st December 1989, becoming Master in 1999. He joined Adoniram Mark Lodge on 11th November 1994 and has recently joined Ashington Mark Lodge No. 890 on 3rd October this year.

He was appointed to the rank of P.Prov.G.J.W. in 1997 in Northumberland and also holds the rank of P.Prov.A.G.D.C. from the Mark Province of London.

We wish him many congratulations on his 40-year membership of Mark Masonry in Northumberland, and we hope that he continues to enjoy his time spent in this wonderful degree.

The Great North Air Ambulance receives Grant from MBF

The Travelling Sceptre, without the use of a Satnav,  has found its way back to Whitley Lodge of Royal Ark Mariners No 788.   It’s there to be rescued.

The Travelling Gavel has left Whitley Bay and moved from the furthest east of the Province to the furthest west and is now in the possession of Hexham Lodge of Mark Master Masons No 1141.   Perhaps it can now make its way to the far north to compete the Northumberland triangle.
